What is the eco-friendly beekeeping project that has started at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki?
There's more to enjoy about a trip to Hawaii than just the beautiful ocean and nature. This time, we'll introduce you to a unique and heartwarming initiative that has started at the popular Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa, located in the heart of Waikiki.

What is Waikiki honey?

This project is a partnership with Beelieve Hawaii, an environmental protection organization that carries out ethical activities in Hawaii.

The beekeeping facility, located outside the hotel's parking building, currently has four hives, each housing an astounding 30,000 to 60,000 Hawaiian honey bees.
These bees collect nectar from the flowers of Kapiolani Park, Diamond Head, and Manoa, and produce the rich, sweet honey in the Hyatt's hives.

Bees help pollinate the vegetables and fruits that enrich our daily diets.

Apparently, about one-third of all crops grow thanks to pollination by bees!
Bees are declining in number due to damage to the environment and pesticides, so caring for them helps maintain the ecosystem and has an impact on biodiversity, food supply, and agriculture.

Enjoy luxurious honey and a sumptuous breakfast buffet at the hotel.

The honey grown and harvested at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki is used in the hotel's dishes, but the breakfast buffet restaurant, "Shore," serves it in a slightly unusual way!

The wooden crates containing the honeycombs are left on the premises, allowing guests to scoop and enjoy the honey themselves.

Drizzling fresh honey over fluffy pancakes or yogurt creates a special morning experience, savoring the bounty of nature.

Incidentally, Shore's breakfast buffet is a lavish, international affair, offering everything from Western dishes to miso soup and Hawaiian favorites. Enjoy a truly Hawaiian breakfast using locally sourced ingredients.

*Honey production is dependent on the bees, so it may not always be available. We recommend checking in advance to confirm whether Shore offers honey.

Experience the world of honey on a tour!
Hyatt has also started a special tour that allows you to visit this beekeeping facility! You can wear special protective clothing, see the hives up close, and even sample honey, making it a valuable experience that you can't get anywhere else.

Dates: Every Friday and Saturday
Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM (approximately 90 minutes)
Souvenir: Bottled honey included!
