Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa & Beelieve Hawaii Launch New Beehive Experience

The weekly tours guide guests through the process of beekeeping at the resort’s very own micro urban apiary

HONOLULU, HI (September 1, 2025) – The Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort and Spa is pleased to announce a new partnership with Beelieve Hawaii which brings urban beehives and an accompanying immersive beekeeping experience to the beachfront resort. Starting on September 5th, Beelieve will conduct two tours per week for guests and locals alike to learn the ways of “hive-mindfulness” and get up close and personal with Hawaiian honeybees.

The resort’s new micro urban apiary includes four hives, which are home to 30,000-60,000 Hawaiian honeybees per colony. The Beehive Experience is an interactive educational program that explores the lifecycle of these super-organisms, from the essential pollination process, to the creation of raw honey. Over the course of 90 minutes, participants will don a bee suit and have the unique opportunity to hold a frame of fresh honeycomb, as well as sample raw honey straight from the hive.

The new program strives to educate attendees about the importance of honeybees within our ecosystem, inspiring a desire for conservation and sustainability within our local community and beyond, "We are excited to partner with Hyatt Regency Waikīkī to showcase ethical apiculture (beekeeping) and encourage guests to respect some of the hardest working creatures on our planet. It is truly an honor to be collaborating with a global brand that believes in our holistic approach to raising pollinator awareness’, said Jasmine Joy, Founder of Beelieve Hawaii.

An additional sweet result of the partnership – a portion of the honey used within the resort’s in-house restaurants will come from the onsite hives: “Our new hives are not only a unique experience for our guests, but the source of much of the honey that we use at our in-house food & beverage outlets. We’re thrilled to give our guests a sweet taste of our raw Hyatt honey at SHOR, our all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, where a section of raw honeycomb is on display for diners to view as they enjoy top off their dishes with liquid gold,” said Director of Food & Beverage Jeff Szombaty.

The Beelieve Hawaii Beehive Experience will launch on September 6th, with 90-minute tours on Fridays and Saturdays taking place at 10AM. Guests will meet at Hyatt Regency Waikiki’s atrium waterfall on the resort’s ground-level to walk to the mezzanine, where they will don bee suits provided by the hotel. Pricing is $85 for adults (age 13 and older) and $50 for children (ages 5-12).

Reservations are required and can be booked HERE.

About Beelieve Hawaii

Jasmine Joy found her apicultural calling in 2011 when she learned how to rescue feral honeybees on the North Shore of Oahu. She established Beelieve Hawaii as a bee removal service that organically grew into an esteemed educational organization specializing in pollinator conservation. After completing The Kohala Center’s School Garden Teacher Training Program in summer of 2017, Jasmine started developing outreach curriculum and bringing her rehabilitated bees to elementary campuses. She scaled up her mission during the pandemic by launching Beelieve University, an ethical beekeeping school for adults. Jasmine received the 2022 Community Service of Excellence Award for her outstanding contributions and commitment to Hawaii’s American Veterans. In May of 2025, Beelieve Hawaii announced the expansion of additionally servicing the island of Kauai.

Beelieve Hawaii's motto is: Rescue • Relocate • Rehabilitate • Educate

About Pollinator Outreach Program (POP)

In 2023, we set an annual record of bringing rescued bees to 17 schools and teaching 1035 students. A year later on September 26, 2024, POP celebrated its 7th anniversary as our pilot initiative! Truly embodying its onomatopoeia name, the program is explosive with engaging activities and native insect imagination. It is a favored presentation of second grade teachers because the topic of pollination is introduced at this age.
